Corundum - Ruby and Sapphire

Corundum is the 2nd hardest mineral. Diamond is the hardest. Both Ruby and Sapphire are Corundum. Red corundum has traditionally been known as Ruby while the Blue is known as Sapphire. Now of course there are many other natural colours and these are usually known as Sapphires. For example: Green Sapphire, Yellow Sapphire, Parti-colour which is a combination of at least two colours. Parti-colours are the only ones that cannot be successfully made synthetically.

Sapphires and Rubies do not have to be gem quality to have wonderful healing and regenerative energies. In fact it is sometimes the poorest quality that has the most energy to give.

Brief Meanings:

Blue – communication, calming of the mind, mental focus, connection to higher realms during meditation, boosts intuition, throat and brow chakra balancing.

Ruby – passion in relationships, passion for causes and ideals, stamina, boost physical health, anger management, root chakra balancing.

Green Tree Agate

Geological Information: Chrysanthemum stone is the result of geological changes in the Permian period around 270 million years ago. This was before the Dinosaurs. It is formed from fossilised marine organisms and silt. The black stone consists of selenium, strontium and bismuth. The white flower is made up of gypsum, dolomite, limestone, calcite, feldspar and celestite.
